gotta love Christopher Moore

A few passages from one of my favorite by C. Moore. I adore his style especially his character descriptions and dialogue.

from Fluke:
"Clay was a guy who liked things and among things he liked the most was the sea, but this morning he held nothing but disdain for his old friend. That sapphire blue was indifferent. the waves elitist. She'd kill you without even learning your name. "you bitch" Clay said loud enough for the sea to hear. He spit into her face and walked back home"

"smoking basic 100's, talking in voices that sounded like 151 poured into hot grease... they were 35 or 65, the color of mahogany, skinny and strong from living on boats, liquor, fish and disappointment"

"95% of all the species that have ever existed are now extinct so don't look so god damn smug"

"Kona was in tears, wailing lie Bob Marley in a bear trap"

"evil fuckery most foul"

from Bloodsucking fiends:
"she was 26 and pretty in a way that made men want to tuck her into flannel sheets and kiss her on the forehead before leaving the room, cute but not beautiful. "

"You got to go to a city and starve. I don't know a Kafka from a nuance, but I know that if you're going to be a writer then you got to starve, you wont be any damn good if you don't starve. "

from Coyote Blue:
"anger is the spirits telling you your alive"

"I don't give a desiccated damn. I don't give a reconstituted damn. I don't give a creamed damn on toast. I don't give a damn. "

from the lust lizard of melancholy cove:
"like many artists, estelle lived in an atmosphere of chaotic funk, taken by observers to be artistic charm, but in fact was no more than a civilized way of dealing with the relative poverty and uncertainty of cannibalizing one's imagination for money"

"to skinner dead bird was the smell of romance"
